Biography

William Curtis Harper, 69, of Star City, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born August 12, 1940 in Star City to the late Wesley and Fay Bridges Harper.

He served his country during the Berlin Crisis as a soldier in the United States Army. He worked for International Paper for 37 years, doing various jobs, then working his way up to plant manager. He was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Palmyra.

Also preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Ronald Lerenz Welch; and a granddaughter, Faith Elizabeth Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Harper of Star City; 2 daughters, Elizabeth Reed and husband Chris of Rowell, Sandra Blasengame and husband Steve of Star City; 3 sisters, Winnie Powell and husband Danny, Betty O’Bryant, all of Star City, Brenda Weeks and husband Leslie of Amity; 2 grandsons, Seth Reed of Rowell, Dustin Blasengame of Star City; 2 granddaughters, Anna and Fisher Blasengame of Star City; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City. Bro. Don Breshears will officiate. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bank of Star City for the American Cancer Society, JBE Relay for Life Team’s Cancer Survivor Banquet.
