Star City is nestled at the edge of the West Coastal Plains and the Arkansas' Mississippi Delta with a population of 2,274 (as of 2010 Census).  With warm climate summers and mild winters, it makes Star City an excellent place to live.

The city got its name because it lies in a valley between five hills which is thought to form a star pattern thus the name Star City.  It became the county seat when the county was formed from parts of surrounding counties in 1871 and was named in honor of President Abraham Lincoln.

Star City is home to several wonderful attractions one-is Cane Creek Lake(a 1700 acre lake) that was built in 1987 as a cooperative project between the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC), the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.  After the lake was completed the state park system opened a recreational park on its southern shores, called Cane Creek State Park. Through the years the state park has grown to be one of the best parks in the the state.  It has won multiple park of the year awards.  With great fishing and a 15.5 mile multipurpose hiking trail (the only one of its kind in south Arkansas and parts of Mississippi) provides a challenging adventure for hikers, and bycyclist alike.
